Six Flags America

Six Flags America is located in Baltimore, Maryland. The park offers tours and exciting rides for the entire group. This location is a must-see when visiting Maryland. There are thrilling rides, family rides, and waterpark rides for entertainment. Thrilling rides include the following: Apocalypse, BATWING Coaster, Big Easy Speedway, Bonzai Pipelines, Halfpipe, Mind Eraser, Ragin’ Cajun, Roar, and SUPERMAN: Ride of Steel. While on the Batwing Coaster, you will be taken on a menacing ride by the masked superhero and experience 5 superhuman inversions as you soar 115 feet. The Big Easy ride involves using go-charts where you race the coasters zooming around a relentlessly curving course of high-speed hairpin turns. Family rides featured include: Bahama Blast, Calypso Cannonball, Capital Railways, the Carousel, Castaway Creek, Coyote Creek Crazy Cars, the Cyclone, the Flying Carousel, Great Race Antique Cars, and Hurricane Bay. On the Flying Carousel, you will fly high over Chesapeake on this spectacular wave swing, with the sky at your feet. The Coyote Creek Crazy Cars are exhilarating for visitors on this classic clobbering bumper car smashup.

Baltimore Zoo

The Baltimore Zoo is fun and exciting for guests of all ages. The location offers behind-the-scenes tours to interested groups. There are also guest services along with food and refreshments. Featured tours include: Giraffe House, rock island, rhino barn, polar bear watch, and the Presidents Tour. The Giraffe House contains Maryland Zoo’s herd of reticulated giraffe, as well as okapi. During the tour, visitors will walk through the keeper area and also spend time visiting and possibly feeding the animal through the many viewing windows. Keepers will give an explanation of how the animals are managed and cared for, what makes the species special and unique, and their status in the wild. As part of this experience, guests will learn about the okapi, which is a unique creature that is a close relative of the giraffe. Polar Bear Watch is home to polar bear, raven, arctic fox, and snowy owl. During this encounter, participants will walk through the polar bear building and look at the kitchen and food preparation area, the video surveillance stations, and the bear dens. The keepers will explain how the animals are managed and cared for, and their status in the wild. The rhino barn is home to southern white rhino, common zebra, and also the ostrich. Guests will walk through the zebra area and observe keepers conducting training sessions. You may get the chance to interact during these demonstrations. Fort McHenry

While your adult group is in the Baltimore area, you should consider visiting Fort McHenry. It is primarily known for its role in the Battle of Baltimore during the War of 1812, when American troops stopped a British invasion. It was during this bombardment of the fort that Francis Scott Key was inspired to write the Star-Spangled Banner. The poem was later put to music and became the national anthem of the United States. During the American Revolution, Baltimore was an important naval center and in the spring of 1776 a battery of 18 guns was erected on Whetstone Point in order to guard the entrance to the harbor. This was the beginning of Fort McHenry. Group members can check out exhibits, watch an orientation film, and walk around the fort as part of the experience. The fort was named after James McHenry who was the Secretary of War during the War of 1812.

 

Your group visit to Fort McHenry should begin in the Visitor Center. The center has exhibits, a gift shop, and shows an orientation film about the history of the fort. There are different museums which include the fort, barracks, and related structures. The barracks contain several exhibits such as the Enlistmen’s Quarters, uniform and weapons displays, videos, the Junior Officers’ Quarters, a powder magazine and the 1814 Guard House. The location also hosts special events throughout the year. In the summer months, visitors can enjoy Living History Programs. Fireworks are featured each year during the Flag Day and Defenders’ Day celebrations at the fort.

While your group is in Baltimore, you should spend some time checking out the National Aquarium. There are over 17,000 animals. Visitors can explore exhibits and participate in fun activities. There are animals such as sharks, rays, dolphins and tropical fish.

 

The exhibits at the aquarium are both entertaining and educational. One of the exhibits is known as the Blacktip Reef. Visitors will have the opportunity to check out 779 animals from various vantage points. The exhibit has animals such as blacktip reef sharks, tasseled wobbegongs and a 500-pound green sea turtle. It replicates Indo-Pacific reefs. Another interesting exhibit is the Dolphin Discovery exhibit. It is the aquarium’s largest exhibit and was established in 1990. The exhibit is home to a colony of eight bottlenose dolphins. Guests will get a glimpse into the daily life of a dolphin. You will see how they learn, how they play and how they interact with each other. You can chat with a marine mammal expert about a variety of topics. The expert will discuss topics such as what it’s like to care for, teach, and build relationships with these amazing animals.

 

If your group wants to go behind the scenes to interact with the animals, the National Aquarium is the place to visit. You can have an encounter with the dolphins, get up close to sharks, or go behind the scenes and look at the exhibit known as Pacific Coral Reef. The group will have the opportunity to learn about what it takes to care for 17,000 animals and exhibits. There are also art classes for the dolphins.

When your group visits Baltimore, you should check out the Inner Harbor Region. It is one of America’s oldest seaports and is also one of the world’s popular travel destinations. The location has been welcoming people, ships, and goods since the 1600s. Visitors can dine, explore museums, shop, or check out entertainment attractions as part of the experience.

 

In the course of the visit, group members can see the animals at the National Aquarium, examine memorabilia at the Sports Legend Museum, learn about the Battle of Baltimore at Fort McHenry, see the Historic Ships or take a ride on a boat and enjoy the breathtaking views of the harbor. At the Maryland Science Center, group members can explore hands-on scientific exhibits, see a show at the planetarium, or catch a film at the IMAX Theater. At the National Aquarium, visitors will have the opportunity to check out fascinating aquatic animals. The aquarium contains sharks, dolphins, rays and tropical fish.

 

Fort McHenry is an 18th-century brick fort that defended Baltimore Harbor during the War of 1812. Guests can enjoy living history weekends and other special events throughout the year. It possesses the oldest, most historic and the most comprehensive American railroad collections in the world. Featured collections include: locomotives and rolling stock, Hays T. Watkins archives, the restoration facility, and small objects and artifacts. The locomotives and rolling stock collection contains several unique examples of historically significant pieces from the B & O and other Maryland railroads. It includes the finest collection of 19th century steamed locomotives. The small objects and artifacts collection covers almost every aspect of railroading. It includes the following: clocks, pocket watches, textiles, lanterns, dining car china, silver, fine art, communication devices, signals, shop equipment, as well as an assortment of tools and artifacts used on historic occasions. The Museum also contains the Alex Brown and Sons Exhibition Gallery. It contains permanent and rotating exhibitions on significant aspects of railroading. Featured exhibits include: The Smithsonian institution’s collection of railroad models, the War Came by Train, and About Time. The War Came by Train collection features rare artifacts from both public and private collections that tell poignant stories of the soldiers and civilians who kept the railroad running despite some remarkable challenges. Visitors will enjoy these collections and learning about this very famous time in history.

While your group is touring Baltimore, you should consider checking out the Flag House Museum. The location was constructed in 1793. Visitors will learn about Mary Pickersgill who was a spirited woman that made the flag. Group members will also have the opportunity to check out interesting exhibits on display. You will also learn about what life was like during the 19th century.

 

The exhibits at the Flag House Museum are entertaining and informative. One of the exhibit areas is the Permanent Exhibition Gallery. The gallery has a variety of artifacts that are from the era of the 19th century. Group members will have the opportunity to see the interior of the Flag House. You can look at furnishings from that particular time period as part of the experience. The house is arranged in the same way as Pickersgill and her family would have seen it in the 19th century. Many of the objects in the house were once possessions of the Pickersgill family. Guests will also explore aspects of business and daily life by interacting with a number of sights and sounds from the year of 1812.

 

The gallery also has an interesting exhibit known as Preserv’d Us A Nation. This exhibit highlights the brave defense of Baltimore’s ordinary citizens during the War of 1812. At the exhibition group members can check out a fragment of the Star-Spangled Banner flag, a drum used by an American soldier during the bombardment of Fort McHenry and much more. Another fascinating exhibit is known as the Family of Flag-makers: The Women Who Created the Star-Spangled Banner. The exhibit focuses on the life of Mary Pickersgill, her family, household and neighborhood.

When your group is in Baltimore, you should consider visiting Geppi’s Entertainment Museum. The exhibitions center on the theme of pop culture. The group can also walk around the museum as part of the experience.

 

The exhibits at the museum are both fascinating and unique. One of the exhibitions is known as Pioneer Baltimore Heroes. At the exhibit, you and your group mates will learn about individuals and groups that have played the role of making the city what it is today. There is another exhibit which is known as Extra Extra. The theme of the exhibit focuses on entertainment characters from 1776 to the year 1927. A Story in Four Colors is also known as the comic book library. Guests will have the opportunity to see a fascinating collection of comic books. Group members will discover how the entertainment characters depicted in these books influenced the development of pop culture. There is also an exhibit which is known as When Heroes Unite. The exhibition focuses on the characters that made the hard times easier from 1928 to 1945. You can learn about characters such as Mickey Mouse and Superman.

 

Another interesting exhibit is called America Tunes in. The exhibit focuses on television from 1946 to 1960. Group members will learn about the peanut gallery, the old west and deep space.
Television also brought world events into the homes of many people. In the course of the same period of time, the beat of America changed when rock and roll took the nation’s youth by storm.
